The Ashram is named such because of the Beatles who met Maharishi Mahesh Yogi (Spiritual Guru and the founder of the Ashram) in London in 1967 and got attracted to his teachings. A year later they came to Rishikesh to visit him, live and learn Transcendental Meditation.

The NeelkanthMahadev Temple is about 32 km from Rishikesh in the PauriGarhwal district an altitude of 1675 meter on a hill above the Swarg Ashram, which overlooks the Nar Narayan mountain. According to Hindu sacred texts, the place where the NeelkanthMahadev Temple currently stands is the sacred location where Shiva consumed the poison that originated from the sea when Devas (Gods) and Asuras (Demons) churned the ocean in order to obtain Amrita. This poison that emanated during the SamudraManthan (churning of the ocean) made his throat blue in color. Thus, Shiva is also known as Neelkanth

Safari Booking is on a first-come-first-serve basis Public safari tour is permitted from October-June each year. Each shift is three and a half hours long.
